Dear Friends, What if one Saturday morning, right here in Evanston, we could stand together with Rotarians around the world to help make history?
Rotary has contributed more than $3 billion and countless volunteer hours to end polio forever. We and our partners have reduced the number of cases by 99.9%. You may not hear about polio, but we're still working to eradicate the disease in two last countries. Until it's gone, we're not done. Come to enjoy the festivities - with music, coffee, and purple frosted donuts! - starting at 9AM. You'll hear a bit about the campaign to end polio and the logistics for the walk. And at 10AM sharp, we'll join thousands across eleven states and two countries to take the next step in ending the threat of polio.
World’s Largest Polio Walk –– Evanston
WALK REGISTRATION: When you register for the walk, you'll receive a confirmation email with more information, including parking, our walking route, and our inclement weather plan. Registration is free and helps us know how many to plan for! FESTIVITIES FOLLOWING THE WALK: our friends at the Evanston Nouveau Club invite participants to continue celebrating World Polio Day after the walk –– join them in Skokie at 1pm for their Purple Pinkie event at Sketchbook Brewing. Come raise a pint, awareness, and funds for polio! FUNDRAISING: Every dollar raised through our district donation page supports polio eradication, and the district is currently covering credit card fees so your full gift goes through. When you donate, select Evanston Lighthouse from the club drop-down so our club gets the credit — and pass the link along to friends and family who'd like to help eradicate polio for good. WHAT TO WEAR: We encourage every member of our club and friends of the club to participate — bring your family, invite a friend, and wear your Rotary gear proudly. Don't have Rotary or World Polio Day gear? consider purchasing on Russell Hampton's online shop. Otherwise, we strongly encourage wearing red and/or purple to the walk.
Whether you walk in Evanston, raise a pint in Skokie, donate, or simply help spread the word, you are helping Rotary move one step closer to a world without polio. We hope to see you there!
